Your everyday bottle shouldn't cause this much stress.
Four things we hear from people who are ready to upgrade.

Gym floors, car consoles, desk drawers. An open straw is a magnet for germs you would rather not sip.
The backpack leak surprise
One bumpy commute and a loose lid can soak your laptop, notebook and snacks.
It won't fit the cupholder
Big bottles roll around the floor mat and tip over on the first hard stop.
Lids that are a pain to clean
Hidden corners hold moisture, and nobody wants to find out what is living under the seal.
Hold upright to sip.
Tilt back to swig.
The FreeSip spout is Owala's signature: one lid, two ways to drink, with no compromise.
Sip through the built-in strawKeep your head level in the car, at your desk or between sets.
Swig from the wide spoutTilt back for a big, fast drink after a run or a long hike.
Push to close, flip to lockThe lid snaps shut and the carry loop keeps the button from popping open.
Close it. Flip it. Lock it.
Built for tote bags, backpacks and the cupholder of a moving car.
Made for the commute
A locking loop is the difference between a bottle you trust and one you babysit. Close the lid, flip the loop, and carry on.
Shop leak-safe FreeSipEasy to take apart, easy to keep fresh.
No hidden corners. Here is Owala's care routine in three quick steps.
Pull it apart
Lift the spout gasket out using its pull tab and take out the straw. Every piece is reachable.
Wash it right
Lids are top-rack dishwasher safe and straws go in the silverware bin. Hand-wash stainless steel bottle bodies to protect the finish.
Dry and snap back
Let every part dry fully, then reassemble. A straw brush gets into the tight spots and a vinegar soak loosens buildup.
Per Owala's care guide. Skip bleach and harsh abrasives. Care details vary by model, so check the guide for yours.

Quick answers before you buy.
Will it fit in my car cupholder?
Owala describes the FreeSip Sway and the FreeSip Tumbler as cupholder-friendly. For the standard FreeSip, the 24 oz size is the safest bet. Measure your cupholder before choosing a larger bottle.
Will it leak in my bag?
Close the lid fully and flip the carry loop down to lock the push button. Like any bottle, it is best to make sure the lid is closed all the way and not to overfill it before you toss it in a bag.
How do I keep the lid clean and mold-free?
Take the lid apart (the straw and seal pop out), rinse every piece, scrub with a brush and let everything dry fully. Replace the straw regularly. See Owala's care guide for dishwasher instructions for your model.
Can I put hot drinks or soda in it?
The FreeSip is designed for cold drinks. For fizzy drinks, look at the FreeSip Twist, which Owala calls carbonation friendly. For coffee and tea, look at the SmoothSip Slider. Always check Owala's product page for the latest guidance.
Which size should I get?
16 oz for kids, 24 oz for the car and desk, 32 oz for all-day hydration, and 40 oz if you refill rarely. If you want a handle, look at the FreeSip Sway or the Tumbler.
What does the warranty cover?
Owala says its bottles, mugs and tumblers carry a Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, and accessories carry a one-year limited warranty. Special-edition and Color Drop items may have different terms, so check Owala's warranty page.
Is it dishwasher safe?
Per Owala: lids are top-rack safe, straws go in the silverware bin, and Tritan bottles are fully top-rack safe. For stainless steel bottle bodies, hand-washing is recommended to protect the finish.
What is the return policy and how fast does it ship?
Owala's FAQ says unused bottles in original packaging can be returned for a full refund within 30 days of purchase (return shipping is on you unless the error was Owala's). U.S. orders typically ship in 3–5 business days. Terms can change, so confirm at checkout.
Is it lead-free and BPA-free?
Owala says its bottles and tumblers are lead-free and that its Tritan plastics are BPA-free and phthalate-free.
Is ItemVerdict part of Owala?
No. ItemVerdict is an independent fan site. Shop Now opens a partner link, and we may earn a commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. Checkout, shipping and returns are handled by the retailer.
*Per Owala's website. Terms can change; always check Owala's warranty and returns pages.
